Dr Joan Chamberlain
Dr Joan Chamberlain graduated from University of Queensland, in 1986, and has lived in Rockhampton since then. Dr Chamberlain has worked at Rockhampton Hospital, Mt Morgan and Private Practices in Rockhampton. Dr Chamberlain is married with 5 children. She enjoys cooking, family time and outings, crafts and theatre, music and dance performances. Dr Chamberlain and her family attend a local Baptist fellowship. Dr Chamberlain’s areas of interest include Travel Medicine, Radio and TV medical spots, Aged care and areas of Women’s Health and Childhood Diabetes.
She is looking forward to her children growing up, more travel and many more happy years of memory building in Rockhampton
Dr John Maitland
Dr John Maitland RD* MBBS DPD FRACGP Grad Cert SCM, is a family man who qualified as a GP in the UK and has worked in Rockhampton for the past 10 years. He is widely experienced in family practice in the UK and Australia and particularly enjoys looking after young families.
He has a special interest in Dermatology, holds post graduated qualifications in the subject, the latest being the Australian College of Dermatologist’s Certificate in Skin Cancer Management (2008). He is happy to carry out skin examinations for general skin diseases as well as mole/skin cancer checks and carry out surgical and non surgical treatments.
He served in the UK Royal Naval Reserve and is a member of the Australian Naval Association and the RSL.
Dr Maitland is involved in teaching the next generation of Australian Doctors through his work at the UQ Medical School, Rural Division in Rockhampton.
Dr Wald Hattingh
Dr Wald Hattingh graduated from medical school in 2001 in South Africa. He obtained 2 degrees both in medicine and in medical science. Dr Hattingh spent 3 years in the UK working as both a private GP as well as working in a famous medical clinic situated on Harley street. Dr Hattingh has been in Australia since July 2007 and has enjoyed getting to know the friendly people of Central Queensland.
Dr Hattingh has a special interest in children’s health and in treating young families. He is also interested in men’s health and sporting injuries. He is a well rounded GP that treats all aspects of his patient’s general health concerns.
Dr Hattingh looks forward to contributing to the health of the region of Rockhampton and looks forward to meeting with you.
Dr Nivine Farage
MRCP, MRCGP, DRSH, FRACGP.
Dr Farage joined the Northside Plaza Medical Centre in February 2008. She moved from England, where she worked as a General Practitioner in Norfolk.
Dr Farage practises and enjoys all aspects of general practice including women’s health, child health checks, skin checks, travel medicine and chronic disease management.
She has a special interest in women’s health and has acquired the Diploma of Sexual and Reproductive Medicine (UK) in 2003.
Dr Farage is trained to carry out skin checks and has acquired the Certificate in Primary Care Skin Cancer Medicine 2008, the Certificate in Primary Care Skin Cancer Surgery 2009, the Certificate in Advanced Dermoscopy and Dermal Imaging 2011 form the University of Queensland.
Dr Farage has acquired the Membership of the Royal College of physicians 2001 , the Membership of the Royal College of General Practitioners 2003, Diploma of the Reproductive and sexual Health 2003, the Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners 2007.
Dr Phillip Esdale
Dr Phillip Esdale was born in Rockhampton. He was previously a therapeutic radiographer at QRI and the Royal Brisbane Hospital before graduating MBBS (Hons) in 1975 from University of Queensland. After 5 years working at Ipswich, Princess Alexandra and Redcliffe Hospitals with country relieving at Ayr, Charter Towers and Warwick, he commenced Private Solo General Practice at High Street, North Rockhampton in 1981. He obtained the FRACGP in 1983. He joined with Drs Chamberlain, Khor and Wilson to form Northside Plaza Medical Centre at its beginning in February 2006.
Dr Jennifer Loscher
Dr Jennifer Loscher has a special interest in children and adolescents, who present with developmental, learning and/or behavioural problems. Dr Loscher liaises with other agencies involved with the child/adolescent, such as the school and day care centre.
Initial assessments require a long consulation and Dr Loscher has a preference for speaking with the parents/carers separately from the child/adolescent, particularly when seeing children from mid primary school age and above.
Dr Loscher works at the Medical Centre three days a week. A referral from your usual General practitioner is not necessary, but always very welcome.
Allana Gregson, is the Practice Manager and has grown up in the local Rockhampton area. Allana has a Diploma in Practice Management and a Diploma in Project Management, and has worked within the Medical Community in various administrative roles since 1979. Allana has been awarded the Sue Ellen Toms Award for Excellence in Practice Management 2010 and has been admitted as a Fellow to the Australian Association of Practice Management in 2013.
Dr Imran Hussain
Dr Hussain joined the Practice in July 2013. Dr Hussain takes over from Dr Khor who has retired from General Practice. Dr Hussain has worked previously in Emerald and brings with him a wealth of experience. Dr Hussains qualifications are MBBS,FRACGP, Diploma in Child Health (Australia).
Dr Monica Gantus
We welcome Dr Monica Gantus back to Northside Plaza Medical Centre in 2014. Dr Gantus previously spent a year with the surgery in 2012. Dr Gantus has worked as a Medical Practitioner for many years and brings with her a wealth of experience.
Dr Monica is a graduate from Universidad Nacional De Rosario, Argentina. She worked in her home country in ICU, Emergency, Obstetrics and General Practise. Dr Monica also holds a teaching degree for Primary School and a Cambridge proficiency in English.
Dr Gantus relocated to Rockhampton in 2005 and worked at the Rockhampton Base Hospital ICU for 6 years and Rehabilitation for 1 year. Dr Monica has been working in General Practice for the last 3 years, with special interest in Women's Health, Chronic Diseases, Mental Health and Families.
Dr Gantus communicates in English, Spanish, Portuguese and Italian. Dr Monica is a family woman who loves children (she's a monther of 7) and teaching. She enjoys classical music, opera, history and arts. She loves travelling, photography and reading.
Dr Marco Barnard
Marco graduated in 2001 from Medical School in South Africa. He currently holds a Bachelor in Medicine and Surgery (MBChB) as well as Diplomas in Anaesthesiology (2003) and Family Medicine (2007). He works for 8 years in England before moving to Australia with his family in 2011. He gained his Membership of the Royal COllege of General Practitioners in 2013.
He cares, listens to and serves his community with passion and kindness to help better their health in all areas of medicine. As a father of two busy children, he developed special interests in child and family health.
Dr Vicki Richmond
BHB, MBChB, DCH, PGCertWHlth, FRACGP
Vicki joined Northside Plaza Medical Centre in March 2016 and works part time. She graduated from University of Auckland in 2004 and has practiced as a GP since 2008. Vicki has moved to Rockhampton with her husband and two primary school aged children.
She enjoys all aspects of general practice and has a particular interest in treating children, women and those with chronic medical conditions. She has undertaken additional training in these areas and has been awarded Diploma in Child Health and Postgraduate Certificate of Women’s Health.
Vicki feels passionate about the importance of high quality general practice and strives to achieve that in partnership with all the patients she cares for.
